Description

MMTest (Moisture Management Tester)

Moisture Management Tester, While performance fabrics require the same standard tests as other fabrics, they also demand specialized testing to confirm their engineered properties. The MMTest addresses this need by measuring, evaluating, and classifying the liquid management properties of fabrics. Moreover, both AATCC Test Method 195 and GB 21655.2 were developed based on this instrument.

To evaluate dynamic liquid transport properties, a fabric sample is placed horizontally between the upper and lower sensors. These sensors, designed with concentric rings of pins, monitor resistance changes as liquid passes through the fabric. A test solution, simulating perspiration, is dropped onto the center of the skin-facing side of the fabric. As the liquid spreads, the instrument records resistance changes and sends the data directly to analysis software.

When saltwater drips into the fabric, it quickly diffuses across the fibers. Consequently, the probes detect resistance changes and immediately transfer the values to the computer. The software then calculates results and generates reports. Since the entire process finishes in just two minutes, the MMTest offers both speed and accuracy.

MMTest can Producing the following data:

  • Wetting Time for top and bottom surfaces
  • Max Wetted Radius for top and bottom surfaces
  • Accumulative One-Way Transport Capability
  • Absorption Rate for top and bottom surfaces
  • Spreading Speed for top and bottom surfaces
  • Overall Moisture Management

MMTest can identify 7 types of fabrics

  • Waterproof fabric
  • Water repellent fabric
  • Slow absorbing and slow drying fabric
  • Fast absorbing and slow drying fabric
  • Water penetration fabric
  • Fast absorbing and quick drying fabric
  • Water penetration fabric
  • Moisture management fabric

Instrument features

The MMTest uses an aluminum alloy oxide shell for durability. Moreover, its open design makes it convenient to place samples of various sizes, from 8 × 8 cm up to 100 × 20 cm. The sensor, equipped with a magnetic suction structure, can be removed easily for cleaning and maintenance.

In addition, the tester includes a stepper motor with adjustable speed for fluid pumping. Users can control the pump volume to meet testing standards. A simple pump-in button allows liquid to be sucked into the tank, which prevents salt crystallization in the pipeline.

For reliability, the system has a self-check function. If the yellow error light flashes, it indicates that the fabric must be removed or the sensor cleaned. This feature ensures consistent and accurate results.
