Overview

The Carbon Arc Aging Tester is designed to simulate natural environmental conditions such as sunlight, heat, and rain to evaluate material durability. By using a high-energy carbon arc light source and integrated water spray system, it accelerates the natural aging process of materials. This makes it ideal for testing fading, yellowing, loss of strength, and other physical property changes that occur during long-term outdoor or indoor exposure.

Compared to natural exposure, the tester provides a faster, more consistent, and repeatable evaluation of material aging performance.

Working Principle

The tester uses carbon arc discharge light generated by alternating current. Two carbon rods (upper thick rod, lower thin rod) form an arc when energized, producing a spectrum of light that closely simulates natural sunlight after passing through a filter lens.

The drive device ensures the carbon rods maintain a stable gap, keeping the arc voltage and current within standard limits. A sprinkler system simulates rainfall, enabling weather-resistance evaluation under combined light, heat, and moisture conditions.
